Still, warm sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide can make it corrosive, resistant to salts and greases, resistant to aliphatic hydrocarbons, insoluble in water, methanol, glycerol, etc., but can absorb alcohol swelling, and produce stress cracking, not resistant to ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and aromatic hydrocarbons.
Polymethyl methacrylate has excellent atmospheric aging resistance. Its specimen has undergone four years of natural aging tests, weight change, tensile strength, light transmittance slightly reduced, color slightly yellowed, silver grain resistance decreased significantly, impact strength was slightly improved, and other physical properties almost unchanged.
